Ecological Garden | La Villa Rothschild

The Villa Rothschild in Cannes
Le Jardin de la Sixième Extinction

Le Jardin de la Sixième Extinction at the Villa Rothschild, now home to the public library Médiathèque Noailles, represents a journey through time, highlighting the evolving relationship between the Earth and humanity. This garden was honored with the People’s Choice Award during the first edition of the Festival, a testament to its artistic impact and connection with visitors.

Our artistic approach focuses on storytelling through landscape design. The garden conveys a powerful message about the choices humans face in light of environmental destruction, illustrating the balance between progress and nature. Every element of the design—from the dry garden layout to the plant selections—was thoughtfully composed to provoke reflection and inspire action.

A Garden of Reflection and Ecological Awareness

The Jardin de la Sixième Extinction at Villa Rothschild is not just a garden—it’s a living artwork. This ecological garden explores the tension between humanity’s advancements and nature’s fragility. Through the use of symbolic elements, such as drought-resistant plants and arid landscapes, the design echoes the planet’s current challenges.

The garden invites visitors to engage in a conversation about sustainability and to consider their role in preserving the Earth. Its creative use of space and plant life demonstrates the resilience of nature and the beauty of ecosystems that thrive even in harsh environments.

Award-Winning Artistic Design

The People’s Choice Award from the first edition of the Festival reflects the public’s admiration for the artistic vision behind Le Jardin de la Sixième Extinction. The garden resonated with visitors, inviting them to reflect on humanity’s impact on the planet while appreciating the aesthetic and ecological significance of the space.
