Landscaped Office and Park for DIOR in Blois

A landscape Designed to Promote Biodiversity

The Loire Valley region is carried by the river, defining its landscape. The proposed garden project abstractly transposes the typical landscape typologies of the Loire. The concept of the garden breaks down this movement of water, allowing the creation of numerous islands, sculpting the river with pockets of vegetation. The garden is a metaphor for these movements and a translation of the forms which have sculpted the Loire region through its river landscape. The green islands are made up of evergreen subjects grouped together with an undulating shape reminiscent of water. Islets of perennials and grasses with an aerial port suggesting the movement of water with the wind which rocks them. Ground covers take the place of water and connect all the plantations. They circulate between islands of vegetation.

The vegetation on the roof terrace follows the contours of the space and takes the shape of the river. Plants cut into topiaries form a first line and behind another stratification of grasses and perennials express the movement of water swaying with the winds. The palette uses drought-tolerant plants suitable for pots spaced one meter apart. They vary in size to create depth and create ripples that mimic water. A vegetable garden with fruit trees was installed so that users can enjoy the garden.

The hay meadows are made up of local species in the spaces next to the building. The seeds are supplied from several seed producers of local plant species, labeled “Vraies messicoles”.
